Fresh from Durham Farmers' Market

With Mother's Day coming up on Sunday, the Durham Farmers' Market will be full of great gifts for Mom. There will be fragrant soaps, handmade chocolates, beautifully crafted stained glass art, jewelery, pottery, and baskets, cut flowers, local wines and beers, jams and jellies, sweet strawberries, lovely plants to liven up her garden, beautiful cards, and all the ingredients for a lovely Mother's Day dinner.  The possibilities are great.

This Saturday also marks Durham Farmers' Market's annual Kid's Tomato Seedling Giveaway Day. The Durham Master Gardener Volunteers will be out on the Central Lawn giving away free tomato seedlings to all of the kids who come to the Market along with information about growing tomatoes. Varieties will include sungold, sweet 100, celebrity, rutgers and more. Stop by with your kids and pick up a tomato seedling.  Growing tomatoes is a great activity to do with Mom.

Tomato plants are provided by our trusty farmers... thanks to Four Leaf Farm, Flat River Nursery, Lil Farm, Weatherhand Farm, Maple Spring Gardens and Wild Scallions Farm.
