The Museum of Durham History has announced that Saturday, October 12, as Grand Opening Day for its first home, the Durham History Hub at 500 West Main St. in Downtown Durham.
“Doors will open about 11am with a lively lineup of activities that help tell the story of this fascinating place called Durham,” said Executive Director Katie Spencer. “Think music, costumes, contests and kids – a real street fair atmosphere. We’ll publish an agenda of events soon.”
“The Hub’s upfit is being completed now, and exhibits, many of them hands-on and interactive, will be installed this summer,” Spencer added. “We hope folks will circle October 12 on their calendars and plan to join us.”
The week following the Grand Opening, the History Hub will begin regular public hours of 10am to 5pm, Tuesday through Saturday, with later hours on Third Fridays. There will be no admission fee.
To start celebrating, the Museum is offering a 25 percent discount on its Hub Luver membership rates from now through the Grand Opening month of October. The annual rates of $50 for an individual and $100 for a family are reduced to $37.50 and $75, respectively, during this special promotion.
