Durham One Call Activates Spanish-Language Queue

Durham's diversity is well-known, and the community has made a stride toward being more open and welcoming to its Spanish-speaking residents. When they need assistance they will now have a faster way to reach Durham One Call thanks to the center’s new Spanish-language queue.

Now when callers whose primary language is Spanish contact Durham One Call, they may opt to have their call routed to the Spanish-language queue to be connected directly with the center’s Spanish-speaking contact center representatives.

According to Marcelle Brawner, manager of Durham One Call, this new service is in keeping with the center’s mission to serve the community with outstanding customer service. “Each day, hundreds of residents connect with the City through Durham One Call. This is a community that is proudly known for its diversity and that shouldn’t be a hindrance to communicating with us,” Brawner said. “Our goal is to continually look for ways to better serve our customers. According to the 2011 Resident Satisfaction Survey, nearly three-quarters of residents who contact us feel we respond courteously and that we’re easy to contact.  That’s good, but we want to keep looking for ways to make engaging with local government easy.”

Durham One Call can be reached at (919) 560-1200 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, online as well as on Facebook or on Twitter.
